Collagen Induction Therapy / Microneedling
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) also known as microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, a reduction in pore size and scars including acne scars and stretch marks. This treatment is safe for all skin colors and types.
Note: Please read the CIT / Microneedling Consent form and the Pre and Post Treatment forms prior to booking your treatment appt. If you have any questions please contact me. Thank you.
Your Results
The production of collagen and elastin can continue up to 6 months which can lead to renewed, healthier-looking skin. The appearance of fine lines are reduced as new skin replaces old. Repeating this process several times and combining it with a healthy skin care regimen can dramatically improve your skin health. Results are best seen when doing a series of 6, one every 4 weeks and then maintenance every 2-3 months depending on your skin quality at the time of the treatment.
Post Treatment and Aftercare
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the needle depth and the number of overlapping passes during your treatment. The needle depth chosen will depend on your skin’s needs. The skin treated may be red up to 2 to 4 days, but redness typically dissipates in 24 - 48 hours. It is highly recommended that you use the appropriate skin care products following your treatment in order to maximize your treatment results while minimizing any down time. For more details regarding post treatment and what to expect, please read and follow the post treatment instructions on the link below.
Who Should Not Have Microneedling
If you are experiencing active acne, rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, recent sun exposure or tanning, recent chemical peels, IPL, laser or other resurfacing, using retinoid / medication, have a history of abnormal scarring or are under a doctor’s care for the treatment of skin cancer in any areas where you would like needling, you will need to wait until those conditions clear up and / or have a release from your treating doctor before coming in for your appointment.
